I bin a-diggin' again, and have come across three acetates on the Melodisc label...
...But I have no clue about who is on them or what kind of music lies therein.
I found a 10"-ish brown envelope at the bottom of a record crate the other day, which had these three individually sleeved, two sided acetate discs in them.
One is dated: 25 -12 - 47, and has: "Pt. 1" next to title, and: "Warrilow & Co Ltd." next to artist. (just: "Pt.2" on other side - no other details there.
This one is in a blue paper sleeve / envelope which has: "The Bassoon", and "Mother Machee (Machree ?)" below on one side, and: "If Only Our Dreams Came True" on the other. his disc is in fragile condition, with the "aluminum base" (As stated on all three disc labels) showing through in some areas, and has peeled in the run in in a couple of places.
The other two are in brown sleeves, and sides are numbered 1-4.
Date on both is:
25 - 12 - 49
No titles or writing anywhere on these discs or sleeves.
All are on a white Melodisc labelled acetates ("Mfd by Home Recording Co. Freeport, N.Y"), which, I'm guessing by the date etc. will be jazz of some description.
Any Ideas as to the who, what, where, when and whys?
(I can't play them, and wouldn't anyway, due to their apparent fragility)

Warrilow Ltd is a known Pottery firm in the uk so thats a bit of a red herring!
Mother Machree is/ was a very popular tune from the beginning of the 20th century there are many different artists doing that one,so probably not Jazz.
1947 dates are very interesting that makes these the very earliest Melodisc releases.

No these are most likey the UK Melodisc labels, back in the 1940's + 50's UK companies imported Acetate BLANKS from the USA which they then pasted over with their own labels, this carried on untill EMI + Decca eventually started making them.
