This is one of those "Grey Zone" records in the Classical Music World. Is it - or is it not. In the formerly record shops you could find "Operette" besides the classical music records.

For the Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft record company it was obviously clear, it was released on Polydor, DGG's popular music label, where artists like Freddy, Udo Jurgens and later ABBA issued their records.

In my opinion it sticks more like classical rather than popular, altough in the fifties it was more the other way round.

Looks pretty certain to me it is...

Classical composer, with orchestra, and conductor + soloists.

It's when we come to the folk (traditional) end of things that it gets a bit misty for me, but yours looks classical on at least four separate points.

(And in point of fact, I've checked the values for some early Polydor classical LPs, and they seem to be quite well regarded as classical records - by this measure at least.)
