 | Dennis Baxter Member since Apr 2018 4 Points | I have a Regal Zonophone recording of "Bless em all" and "letting the new year in" by George Formby. Recorded at Columbia Graphophone, Sydney NSW. (Car 5903 and car 5904) G24356 I cannot find it in the listings. Can anyone help me out regarding this recording. Thank you. |

 | mister_tmg Also on 78rpm Member since Apr 2012 1118 Points | From the list of George Formby recordings Recorded 10th November 1940: CAR 5903 -1 · Letting The New Year In · MR 3394 · G 24356 CAR 5904 -1 · Bless ’em All · MR 3394 · G 24356 CAR 5907 -1 · Guarding The Home Guard’s Home · MR 3411 · G 24635 CAR 5908 -1 · I Wish I Was Back On The Farm · MR 3411 · G 24635 Despite the gaps above EMI state that matrices CAR 5905/6 were not recorded by Formby. At the top, it lists the prefixes including: G · Regal-Zonophone (Australia) I personally doubt it was recorded by Regal Zonophone in Australia, it being more likely that Formby recorded the tracks for RZ in the UK. A session listing would confirm it, and I’m pretty sure he never made any commercial recordings outside the UK. They were of course issued in various countries around the world though, including Australia. According to that website, you’ve got the matrix numbers the wrong way round, and that’s also shown on the UK 78 - Letting The New Year In is CAR 5903 and Bless ‘Em All is 5904. That could be an unintentional error in your typing though, Dennis. |
