I just acquired this double elpee

Magic Music (at discogs)

So here the problem. One LP is on the CBS Special Products label (catalogue LSP 13193) and the second LP is on EMI (catalogue number F 665 586).

Over all the package has no unique catalogue number unto itself.

So -- do I do one entry with the label being CBS Special Products / EMI and the catalogue number being LSP 13193 with additional number of F 665 586 with an explanatory note?

OR

Do I do two separate entries for each disk and cross reference and explain that in the notes and even make them linked release?

And while I'm at it -- does anyone know any history about this release?

Amy

I'd go for one entry (after all, it was released as the one package), with CBS SP as the main label and EMI as the secondary, and ditto with the cat#s. Plus the note, of course.

I am leaning to my "or" solution of two entries because in that way it will be a part of both label's discography.

I finally added it .. using the two entries method with notes directing to the other disk and a see also. This felt like the most logical way.

CBS LP
EMI LP

Now if only I knew the story behind this release

Your solution to the problem is very clear and accessible, I will be present for the future if something similar happens.
Best wishes.

You could put it under
Deutsche Sparkassenorganisation. (Association of / for German Savings Bank/s)
as they commissioned the disc.

Looks like a sampler for other LPs in the company's catalogues.

Interestingly as British releases go, the First Disc seems to have singles that have had a UK release, whereas the EMI/Electrola one appears to have some sides that I don't recall hearing the the UK before.

OK, how did the Little Richard and Chris Montez tracks end up on a supposedly CBS album? Curious George...

Chris Montez was on CBS in the 70s, Little Richard on Epic, so nothing to wonder about...

So do those recordings date from then or were they simply licensed? :sideways:

Quite honestly, I found it to be a somewhat underwhelming, if not boring set of tracks
