I acquired an RCA Victor home recording blank. What is cool about it that has a precut silent groove on both side. The home recording instrument would then 're-groove' it as needed by the sound being recorded.

I am thinking it is of mid 1930s vintage, so while conceivably any speed could be used to record on it, it is a part of the 78 RPM era.

RCA Victor home recording blank

While I have seen some Audiodisc home recording "blanks" listed, they have recordings on them already. This is the first I have fond that is a true blank.

So -- does the 78 world seem like an okay place for it?

Tricky.

Ideally it would be on Worlds in the same spirit as the one for blank cassette tapes, but given that we are unlikely to see many more of these discs, I think it'll do no harm where you've put it.

Interesting. Shouldn't the label just be Victor, though? When adding blank cassettes to Tape World, we don't say " TDK Home Recording Blank"... :read:

Speaking of unlikely labels, I see we now have CCCP - no image of course :sideways:

I've no doubt it will say CCCP in large letters on the label

There are of course multiple problems with this entry -- first being that it is NOT CCCP as per the 'latin' alphabet, but cyrillic and as such would go there as it is SSSR in the non-cyrillic -- and meaning USSR.

Second is that the "ГОСТ" number was used as the catalogue number/ Look at this example from the 1950 --> ГОСТ 5289-50.

According to this website USSR records: A guide to decoding the label information ГОСТ 5289-50 would have been after 1950, so it is not 1930.

An image of A label with ГОСТ 5289-50 of the track The Lone Accordion, although not performed by S. Lemeshev, is shown HERE

So -- this is why I HATE entries without labels

Amy.
