This relates to my earlier post 'expert required in Gloucestershire' but I have created a new post because of relative urgency.........
I'm getting a bit frustrated but please bear with me. I have a collection of 78's that I know nothing about, however with my friend Google I am finding out a bit more, so here's the situation, I would estimate that I have approx 500 or so old 78's some of which appear to be quite rare - a handful of single siders, approx 50 Pathe black labelled discs, a wide variety of different labels ranging from Victory, Gramophone Monarch, Winner, Edison Bell, Broadcast 12, etc through to the presumably less interesting HMV classical collections (in albums) and Columbia. Even as a complete ignoramus about these things I can recognise that it's a potential collectors goldmine.
Here's the thing, I need them gone fairly urgently because they are heavy and take up space, after waiting in all afternoon yesterday for a 'genuine sounding dealer' who was a no show, my next possibility is to send them to auction - However as a collector of other things I know how frustrating this is for a genuine collector.( By the way I have removed them from the industrial unit mentioned in my earlier post and they are now safely stored at home.)
SO: If there is anyone here, who can collect from Gloucestershire in the next day or so, and is happy to offer a bit of beer money to make me feel better - I'm all ears.
Please help me before the missus pops down to the solicitors!

I have 2 large boxes of classical 78's in my garage which I cleared from someone's house as a favour with the hope of moving them on. That was 2 years ago still no takers.
Have you tried Gumtree's free stuff listings if you just want to get rid.
Ah OK, thanks RedPunk. Ironically my research tells me that the retailers 'sleeve' is worth more than the record! They are a real piece of social history and a who's who of record retailers! I find it sad that no-one wants to take this collection on - I would love to keep them but sadly I have such a large collection of old automobilia that my other half would probably never speak to me again if I dared to start collecting 78's!
If I haven't had any joy by mid-week then they are off to Stroud Auctions or the skip, depending what is the most efficient! I'm a bit miffed that I gathered them all together for safe keeping and a dealer viewing on Friday, this now looks like a waste of time!
Thanks mister tmg, to be honest, I'm not looking for value as such, I'm just trying to save them going into a skip - I know there must be collectors out there who would love them, I just haven't the time to list, photo etc. and do all those ebayey type things. I have pulled them from what is going to be a building site very shortly to keep them safe - but now wish I hadn't because they are damned heavy and in the way.

Thanks getalife, have contacted them - waiting for a reply. Sad to say most of my w/e before last was spent on google - thought I'd found a dealer, waited in all afternoon Saturday for him to turn up - no show- no message to say he wasn't coming etc. So I'm a tad jaded with 'dealers'. Sadly, if they ain't gone by Saturday, it's into the skip (and there is some good stuff included). I guess that's the way collecting anything is going now.
