A contributor has commented on my entry in CD Album Word here that "this is an Audiobook,not a CD Album,and,as such,should live on Book World,regardless of format". Views fellow Mods? We don't have an Audiobook format listed in Books World.

jpgr&b: (not a mod, but a suggestion nevertheless): it's a fair point, but arguable either way:
dramatised book readings are performances even if ones with only one actor speaking all parts (including omniscient narrator passages):
totally undramatised readings are utterly boring, and not sold by commercial publishers;

spoken word lps are catted as vinyl albums, so spoken word cds are catted as cds - no?

I agree with ppint the worlds are based on format a CD spoken word or LP are the same also sound effects are not music but are also on their respective format worlds.

Then the title should be changed from "CD Album" world,to "CD" world to accomodate all CD's,regardless of content by your reckoning,surely?.
If an Audiobook format choice were added to Book world,then they would have a home
We've had this conversation in the past,and,surely the question that first should be asked,is,what is it?,it's a book IMHO,regardless of what format it's on.
(Anyhow,no doubt Mods will do as they please,it seems to be one rule for them,one for us)
Addenda > I initially suggested that Audiobooks be given a home on Book world as having worked in charity shops for a number of years,i have seen many,many hundreds of examples,and the thought of all these being added to CD Album world gave me the shivers,having thousands of them would not aid searches,and would lead to confusion IMHO.
If you were to go with "the format first" proposal,please bear in mind that many Audiobooks were/are issued on cassette also,and i've seen some on Audio DVD,and a few on Memory stick too.
They would then be spread over CD Album/Tape Media/and DVD worlds,surely not ideal! (much cross-linking;).
So,would they not be better on the one world?,for the sake of adding some format options to Book World.

I think it's time to set up an Audiobook world on 45Spaces. I didn't go ahead with one because the powers that be said it would be done on 45Worlds. If there's a general consensus for that to happen I will certainly have a go at it, maybe greg you could co-moderate it with me. Opinions please

@Quad5point1
Thanks for the suggestion,but truthfully,i don't have any interest,therefore no desire to properly moderate such a world,besides,i feel that a media with such a large potential quantity of entries warrants a world on 45 Worlds rather than on Spaces.
