This milestone of jazz was written most probably by Armstrong alone, with Oliver taking some credits on it. It is credited as "Armstrong-Oliver" on the Gennett and Okeh releases.
Though, the song appeared under the name "Sugar Foot Stomp" on Gennett 3076 (short lived red label series) in 1925.
Was it to rely on the release of Fletcher Henderson recording, with the new Don Redman arrangements, released under that name ? (and credited fully to Amrstrong)
King Oliver will record the song with his own arrangments and a new ending in 1926, probably to have his own version, with full credits for it. It appears also as "Sugar foot stomp" on the Brunswick release.
Does anyone have any idea on why the song has been renamed on the Gennett reissue, on the Henderson's version and on Oliver's ?
