Hi guys. New here.
I recently got gifted my mum and dads old record collection for my birthday (pink Floyd, Zeppelin, the who etc.) and that sent me on the hunt for more records.
I was at the shops and saw a community board and I was just having a read and saw this note written in a shaky hand advertising records for sale.
I gave the guy a call and went around to visit him in a retirement home. I got there and the records he had for sale were all old 78's but he was such a nice old fella that I stayed and chatted to him awhile and bought the records from him anyway.
They're really awesome and a great thing just to look at. Original stamps on them and great design.
I was just wondering if these are worth anything? Or if they're sort after at all.
Examples are
zonophone records a chip off the old block
Hmv
Colombia
Decca
Arcadia
Parlaphone
Regal
Mercury
Brunswick
Festival
Mgm
Voralion
Rca
depends on the artists, I am averaging £3 a disc on discogs, it is a slow sale maybe one a week and a pain to mail overseas but it is getting there. Of course if you can find a decent player you can listen to them ! They are after all what many groups of the 60s got their inspiration from.
Indeed Matthew, as others have suggested, it really depends on the content. Artists, genre etc. It’s good you collected the discs, maybe you could try adding them to this site if they aren’t already listed.
