Hi, 3 singles released by Dutch label 8ball Music have the same catalogue number printed on the release. 2 of them are wrong which can be confirmed by the barcode and matrix of these releases which have the correct numbering included.

The correct one is 2007 release Leaf - WonderWoman - # 7466032, matrix DOCdata 8BALL 7466032, barcode 8 717774 660324

first incorrect one is 2007 release Alain Clark - This Ain't Gonna Work - # 7466032 printed but correct # 7466034 in matrix DOCdata 8BALL 7466034 and barcode 8 717774 660348

2nd incorrect one is 2008 release Alain Clark - Father & Friend - # 7466032 printed but correct # 7466060 in matrix DOCdata 8BALL 7466060 and barcode 8 717774 660607

Should the correct catalogue number be entered with a note in Notes about the wrong one printed, or add the wrong one with note in Notes what the correct one should be? Already added the correct one on Alain Clark - This Ain't Gonna Work but forgot to add a note about the incorrect one, and not sure how this is handled on this site so thought to better bring it here to discuss.

Use the correct one for the entry - you can point out an error or typo in 'notes' when you enter, or as a comment afterwards

thanks, they have been fixed now. However, don't understand why the wrong number is still showing as secondary number for one of them https://www.45worlds.com/cdsingle/cd/7466032nl
also still has the wrong label though I had requested correction in the same comment

The erroneous number is shown as an alternative because it is shown on the disc. The notes make this clear.
All your other suggestions have been implemented - Thanks

the label is still incorrect on https://www.45worlds.com/cdsingle/cd/7466032nl.

Are releases in the corrections cue done in random order? Because notice some things requested to be fixed take longer than others requested later. Especially the incorrect labels seem to be ignored several times, for some reason a lot of incorrect labels created and no reasoning seems to work to get them correct.

why is it shown as alternative if it is incorrect? Notes make it clear it is incorrect, so why add it as release catalogue number at all?

Because it is shown on the disc, that's all. You are lucky that you have the case, others may not be so lucky

An individual may (without the correct cat# shown on the cover) search for an entry by the cat# shown on the disc/label in which case the entry would not show in the database. By recording all cat#'s and explaining the error(s) in the notes all eventualities are covered.

Exactly! Wrong number or no, if it's the number which has been printed on the disc or label, to some extent that IS its catalogue number, so it makes perfect sense to show both the correct number and the wrong number to help people identify the record that they may have in front of them.

They might equally ask the question "What's the point of putting a number on the database which doesn't even show on the disc?" ... Which is PRECISELY why we put both correct and incorrect numbers as alternatives or in notes.
