The song here by The Parrots, as far as I know, is the original but, there's another version by another band that will also show up eventually. It's not QUITE as good as this one but is still a good psych track.
The SAC classic here is actually the SECOND version of this song to be recorded! Shortly before they recorded this big hit version, they recorded the original version under a different band name. I believe they were called, The Inner Sound. I've been away from this stuff for a good while so, I've forgotten a few things.
As for Group Therapy, there were a number of bands at that time with the same name. At least 3 will eventually be used in this project.
The Michael Caine interview here is NOT psychedelic but, as it was very short (a few seconds) and actually prefaced the next track in the project on the album I got it from (the soundtrack to "Let's All Make Love In London"), I just decided to include it.
I haven't heard this project in a few years, mostly because I don't want to "ruin" it by associating it with the horrific shit that's been happening to me the past few years so, I'm not 100% sure but, this version of Penny Lane SHOULD be the American promo version with the extra piccolo trumpet run at the very end.
If I remember correctly, there's a different version of Red Chair, Fade Away by a different group that'll show up at a later time. There's also another version with a completely different title and different lyrics that'll show up later! From what I'm seeing, this kind of stuff happened A LOT back then!!
As you can see, there's a few Zombies tracks here from their last album. They had already broken up before this album was released. I stumbled upon a British pressing 2 decades ago that was at least mint -. As far as I can tell, the Brits used much better vinyl because the sound on this is so incredibly clean, especially for being a used album at least 35 years old! To my eyes and ears, the vinyl used is softer than what we crazy Americans use!! Had this been the American pressing on Date Records, the vinyl would've been stiffer, more easily prone to wearing out and the sound just wouldn't have been the same!! Anytime I listen to this album or relate it to someone, the first words I want to say about it is that it's just an incredibly tasty album...musically, production-wise AND because of the vinyl used!! Cheers to you Brits!! (BASTARDS!)
For those of you who like heavily fuzzy guitars, The Mystery Trend will set you up nicely on the song, here!! The fuzz is similar to that on, "Spirit In The Sky".
Tropical Fish: wow!! What an incredible song!!! Dark, middle-eastern feel, gorgeous vocals on the choruses, very mystical-sounding, and the end continues quietly for a short while after the song has faded out! Just a VERY nice feel!!! From what I understand, it was another one that never made it past acetate!! What a dirty shame!!! i think it could've been a hit!!
For the start of CD 9, we continue with a bit of the middle-eastern feel.
