Hello. first post on this forum.
having recently restored a HMV 101 and now a Portadyne radiogram from around 1945 I bought a pile of 78's today from a charity shop.
In the pile was a John Bull Record, 1-67116, Title = Save a little one for me. Is it really over 100 years old? Also I've not seen any records with a raised lip at the outer edge before like this. Just wondered what comments I would get from other interested enthusiasts.

Yes John Bull was in production from 1909 to 1913 and the records were sold by a door to door salesman there is no definitive record on how many 78's they produced, that is until we catalogue them all here.
As for the raised lip I presume it helped to stop damage if the 78 was dropped.
Thanks for the quick and interesting reply. I was surprised to find one that old. I've not tried it yet. I got around 40 records for £5 today, so was pleased with that. Colin

Welcome aboard, Colin.

Billy Williams was one of the popular stars of the Music Hall, and his records were later picked up by both the Bonzo Dog Band as inspiration, and Cosmotheka in the 1980s.
