We've long wished that we could do perspective correction easily in paint.net, but a recent browse on their site shows that we can now do it on rectangles.

You need to add the Quadrilateral Correction effect, which isn't too easy as you need admin privileges to install it properly. Unzipping it before adding to the program files will make things a bit easier.

When you select it from the Effects/Tools menu, it pops up a slightly smaller window on top of the paint.net window. This smaller image makes it harder to position the corner markers accurately using click and drag, but if you move the on-top window around you can see the effect of moving a corner on your main image underneath. So I was able to get decent perspective correction on a rectangular image, and it auto-crops it too, although you need to remove the 'white area' that surrounds it.

I've now been successfully using it for about a month and won't be going back to using JpegView for rectangles.

Anybody fancy trying it?

...and I was just getting used to JPEGView  but yes, it's very powerful: I took a photo about 15° from horizontal and you just drag the frame to fit round the four sides and it turns into a rectangle. You may have to expand the canvas slightly to include all four sides

Sorry about that Jules. The original JPEGView tutorial has been available (for mods only) since 2016, so your progress to using Quadrilateral Correction seems almost instantaneous
