I knew it's production was likely to be as "unconventional" as the man himself, but that is an eye opener of a read! :thumbsup:

Maxinquaye is the musical equivalent of one of those 2001 monoliths... you can't really figure or describe adequately what it is, or how it's done, you just know it... is.

The real greatness of that album is that it's like a "found art" masterpiece... Made almost entirely of recycled, and unoriginal pieces, yet put together and constructed in such a way as to be unlike anything you've ever heard.... and still sounds ten years ahead of everything else!

(His use of Isaac Hayes is better too! - Portishead debut is for posturers and trip hop posers, this is the hardcore stuff!!!

((Mind you, their second, self titled album is an altogether different proposition))
