Hello there! I think this Beethoven's Eroica LP I'm looking for is at least very hard to find, maybe impossible, because it can be only a fake/phantasy version! I would like to ask you members and connoisseurs if the Eroica's version from the Alfred Hitchcock's film "Psycho" really exists and can be found or if it's just a fake vinyl LP label only made to match that film's scenery, it's a 33 1/2 Long Playing record, the printed record's company name is "PREMIER", the orchestra's name is "Symphonette Philharmonic Orchestra" conducted by Claudio Caselli, the disc is marked "Made in England" and it has also some numbers printed on the label, "RFD.320", "PRE.85201" and "R-10", I didn't find a way to post its picture at this topic, but it's easy to find at google. Of course I already googled for it (orchestra's name, conductor's name, record's company name, etc.) and I was only able to find some scarce references to the film Psycho, that's the reason why I'm thinking it doesn't exist, it's maybe just a fake label! Well, thank you very much, people!
According to this website it is a fake film prop made for Pyscho.
Thanks, Carryonsidney, yes, this is confirming my suspects, in fact, I didn't expect it was a true recording, since I thoroughly researched it and I couldn't find anything other than references to that film! But, by the other side, it's a cheap and easily replicable piece for my collection, I just have to get a blank old and heavy vinyl LP, record it with a public domain old Eroica's recording or even an electronically midi made one, print the label and put it on my victrola to scare my friends! I lnow, I'm very imaginative, but what would be of the world without some imagination and dreams? I keep wondering why Hitchcock would prefer a fake made LP instead of getting a real one that was not too difficult to find at the time... Well, thank you very much for your answer and your time to be researching this information for me! Best regards!!
In the pointless 1998 shot for shot remake, the props people substituted the "Eroica" prop with another prop record of "The World Needs a Melody" by George Jones and Tammy Wynette. This is also fake, as George and Tammy, although they did actually record the song and it's on their "Let's Build a World Together" album and is also featured on quite a few country compilations and even on several George and Tammy compilations, it was never released as a single nor were there any promotional singles made by CBS/Epic (now Sony Music/Epic) made for the song.
