Phyllis Robins was a singer, actress and a stunning beauty. She was born in Sheffield on February 1 1910 and went on to be the featured singer fronting Fred Hartley’s Band and star in several films like “Murder At The Cabaret”, “Gaiety George” and “They Made Me A Fugitive”……Her recordings sadly are all but forgotten today except by the keen followers of her 78 rpm’s released back in the day…..Never prolific, she chose her songs carefully and sang with style and grace, her natural good looks enhancing her presentation….I know that there are quite a few totally dedicated fans to her memory and that whenever an article appears offering any snippet of new information it is eagerly snapped up……It took me ages to get hold of her version of “Goodnight Children Everywhere” but persistence paid off but there remains one record that has eluded me so I need your help……Do you have “My Daddy” that was released in 1940 on Parlophone F 1703…..You would have to be a real record enthusiast to have this I guess but it is one of the ones that I have searched and searched for.
