I've been long interested in the double LPs produced by the Harvest labels. I had always had The Wall by Pink Floyd and a few others such as the Be-Bop Deluxe "Best of and The Rest Of..." set.
I decided to make a list of them and have now (I think) found all that fit into the SHDW catalogue grouping. It's purely conjecture but I've always thought it should be SHDW for "Stereo Harvest Double-Whammy". The series began with SHDW 1 and SHDW 2 in the same set and continued in the same way with SHDW 3 and SHDW 4 in the second pairing.
Next, they seemed to realise that it had become a series and needed its own 400 series, so they back-dated the first two (I'm not sure they actually allocated numbers) to be SHDW 401 & SHDW 402. Naturally the next in the series came out as SHDW 403 and the numbers continued in this way till the end.
Unfortunately for people like me, who want the numbers to be complete, SHDW 409 is entirely absent. As a result, I've had to carry on with my guesswork to dream up an explanation of what happened and how. I noticed that the SHSP numbers of these SHDW sets (each individual album was also given an SHSP number of its own) were often the SHDW number with a -1 or a -2 at the end. If we work backwards from what maybe SHOULD have been SHDW 409 we get to the Be-Bop Deluxe LP "Drastic Plastic" SHSP 4091. I was wondering if there was a Be-Bop Deluxe double LP planned at that time and of course we then see that SHDW 410 was the Be-Bop Deluxe double-LP as mentioned above. SHSP 4092 was the Albion Band LP and probably not a group that would have had a Harvest double LP, despite the two wonderful single LPs that came out on the label.
So just what happened to SHDW 409? Did the numbering slip and move on to SHDW 410 by error, or is there another double LP that never saw the light of day? Maybe, I've just overlooked SHDW 409 which is staring at me in the face? I don't know. But I'm hoping that there's someone out there who's about to give me a full explanation...
Many thanks for anyone who can shed light on this (very serious) subject...

Fascinating.. it might be worth taking a look at this FB page, there are a lot of knowledgeable people who contribute : Harvest Records in the 1970s and 1980s

Thanks for the suggestion. I am already part of this forum and have already posted this same question. There is no reliable answer which has appeared as yet, unfortunately.
