One of my friends' elderly father passed away recently, and there was a box of records on a shelf high up in his garage/ workshop. There were about 100 records in total, mostly 78s and a few 45s. Some of the 78s were damaged, but most were fine. I managed to clean them up and am in the process of scanning & uploading to this site. The main point is that they all looked unplayed, in immaculate condition as far as the playing area of the records are concerned. I have some 78s and although they are in good condition for the year, they show signs of use, wheras these don't.
Any one else come across a horde of unplayed 78s ????

Hi Pridesale
There are no noticeable spindle marks around the centre holes on most of them, and again most of the labels are in pristine condition, whereas most of the ones I've had previously do show some wear marks around the spindle holes. Perhaps they have been played with a fibre needle though. I'm not really interested in 78s unless they are Rock'n'roll era such as Elvis, Little Richard etc, but thought that this find was quite unusual as virtually all of them were in excellent condition, despite some going way back to the 1920s through to the 1950s
