Member since Jan 2013 772 Points Moderator | There was a period in the 90s when every Tom Dick and Harry seemed to be presenting someone else, although it started a lot earlier than that (Maze presents Frankie Beverley etc.) I'm about to get to the first of these "presentation" artists in my uploads and I wondered what the site guidance is regarding them. If DJ Fred is "presenting" or "introducing" Barney, do we just name Barney as the artist and make a record note that Barney was presented by Fred on the label, or do we give it a category as "DJ Fred presents Barney", even though Barney may then go on to do other stuff in a category of his own?  |

| Billy Two Matthew 7:7 Member since Nov 2008 3210 Points Moderator | There are differing amounts of input these "presenters" and "featurers" had in records. Generally speaking, I'd keep the artist name separate, and add the "DJ Fred presents :" as the title unless they were directly involved in the recording (as opposed to just financing the release on their label). I'm not sure whether this distinction is always so obvious. I guess we're about find out !!  |

I think something like that works. As the site fills out I hope we'll find the Lists feature a good way of tying together 'Presents' or 'Remixed' records by certain artists. i.e. A list of Aphex Twin related remixes A list of Dr Dre related 12"s A list of records featuring guest appearances by L'il Kim etc. etc. |
