Supposedly, the Epic releases are UK, while the Columbia ones are the rest of Europe. Atleast on Discogs, this how they're submitted.

Celine Dion wasn't released simultaneously in Europe (whole) on both labels.
Notably, the UK releases used plain black text and outer outlines, while the
European countries outside had the label printed sideways with red horizontal stripe (Columbia). Straight European Epic releases would do the same, but with a blue Epic horizontal stripe.

This website pretty much sums it up:
Celine Dion fansite: Power Of The Music

Celine was on Epic in USA, Japan (Epic/Sony) and Australia, but even in her native Canada, was released by CBS/Columbia.

That's a helpful idea Gems. I'll not rush in and change everything however, until others have had a chance to add any comments

OK, but I will say and you'll notice.. there is very little feedback in most of these forums. Much due to the fact that most aren't interested in what exists, so they simply don't comment... mods, like yourself, are the only ones who have replied to topics I've posted.

These fora are still very much in their infancy. They will get busier in time. To give an illustration, 45cat (which has a pretty busy forum) has 10,000 registered members (albeit some of those accounts will be irrelevant) whereas CD Single World has only 500 members at this relatively early stage in its life. That will of course grow over time.

Back to the topic at hand, I know absolutely zilch about Celine Dion but your information seems solid enough. I would personally say yes to the changes being made unless anyone else knows any different. All yours Juke ;-)

You would certainly appear to be the expert on Celine Dion on this site GEMSMFAN, so I don't think you'll find much argument against your suggestion.

With regards to "interest" in these new Worlds :

For the first two years of 45Cat, any comment made (this was before the Forum was initiated) stayed on the front page for at least a day, often longer. Now you are lucky if it stays on the main page for an hour.

Music tastes are very diverse, so with the relatively low numbers of people contributing to this site at the moment it's unsurprising no-one is currently interested in whether Celine Dion was released simutaneously on a certain label in Europe or not.

Everyone would of course love a fully formed, hugely populated site to just spring up out of nowhere and be a roaring success from Day One, but that's a fantasy want. Building takes time. 45Cat has been going for five years, whereas this site (as with all the other new World sites) has been going just four months. Considering that, they all appear to be progressing very nicely indeed.

Let's see in three years if people still "aren't interested".

My theory doesn't just apply to Celine Dion. Unless a special (exclusive) label design was used by Columbia or Epic, in the UK.. the releases generally used black broader text and black outline on a silver CD, whereas the discs with the vertical colored stripe were either Netherlands or another country, or rather possibly all over Europe. The UK released CD's, may have made their way into the rest of Europe, but they were UK's

Agreed, I've certainly submitted much more here than in 45cat. It will be interesting to see in a couple of years, how much more will be added. There certainly were thousands of CD singles... There still are many popular artists whom have yet to have a release submitted in here yet.

The 'countries' have been edited
I guess we need to look throuigh all the Epic [Europe] and [UK] entries to check that the layouts are as GEMSMFAN described
For the record we today have 64 Europe and 172 [UK] entries

Well volunteered!

Joking aside I'll be happy to help with this tonight if I get chance to sit down at the computer for a bit.

We perhaps need a system that avoids two (or more) of us checking the same discs.

[edit] I'll start with Epic [UK]
[edit] 657275 2 has straight text...?
and 657857 2 and 658092 2
[edit] Have dome page 1 of Epic [UK], but most don't have CD images

I didn't get chance to get onto this last night (sorry).

I doubt I'll be at my computer tonight either.

I'll pick up tomorrow night unless they've all been done by then!
