Notes

Groundbreaking BBC 7-episode science fiction miniseries. Only one episode has survived. Followed by a sequel, The Andromeda Breakthrough, in 1962 (for which the role of Andromeda had to be recast), a well as film adaptations in 1971 and 2006. The success of the series is credited with inspiring the BBC to commission an ongoing science fiction series, which eventually goes into production as Doctor Who.
