Neil Forbes 26th Jun 2015		A DVD content cut down to 700-or-so megabytes in MP4? Hmmm, must remember that! Might even convert what's already on my external hard-drive(dedicated to TV shows, docos and movies) across to MP4 and gain some extra storage space. Nice one, Monolith!



Monolith 26th Jun 2015		I rip all with TMPGEnc then play on a hard drive through a media player on me telly AVI, MP4, MKV, OGG, FLV and a few dozen more file types. Also JPG, BMP, PNG and more picture file types & MP3, OGG, FLAC, APE and other audio files. I can rip a DVD to a 700mb MP4 no bother, but can go bigger if necessary.



Neil Forbes 26th Jun 2015		As for buying the DVD set, I might check it out at a JB Hi-Fi store next time I'm in Sydney(I won't bother with the Kotara JB Hi-Fi store as that suburban Newcastle branch might not be as well-stocked as the two or three Sydney stores are).



Neil Forbes 26th Jun 2015		Ooooh, AVI, oh dear, not on my software! I don't have the compression necessary to get the files down to the sub-1-gigabyte file size. MPEG-2? A snap! MP4? Easy-peasy! But AVI? Aaaaaarrrrgggghhhh!!!! Yes, I have received AVI files from friends that have the full-length movie(1 hr, 45+ minutes, coming in at 650 to 675 Megabytes AVI), but I sure as hell can't do it myself. I'm using Cyberlink Power Director 8 for such purposes as editing or converting video files. If I attempted it, the AVI file size would blow out to 15 or 20 gigabytes.... Ouch!



henry29 26th Jun 2015		@Neil Forbes. If Your player Is equipped with a USB use It is totally Region Free, All You do Is. Copy the Disc to Your Computer In AVI format then just Copy N Paste to the Flash Drive and Watch from that. Job Done. H.



henry29 26th Jun 2015		@Monolith. I am afraid It Is still the Norm to Remote Hack the Players. I have been doing the same Even Inventing Hacks that have not been Available before. Not just Blu-Ray/DVD players but Euro Box's totally obsolete now but Fun while It lasted. H.



Monolith 26th Jun 2015		I've been hacking DVD players region free for the last 14 years or so. Just Google the hack for make and model. I haven't done it for a while now, but I presume it's still a thing.



Neil Forbes 26th Jun 2015		I have a DVD Recorder with inbuilt hard-drive that has a USB connection, but I'm not sure if any retailer here offers the service you suggest, Henry. My DVD players may or may not have been set for Region 4. I have a couple of DVDs of the Ghost Hunters series, shown as Region 0, that's something I'd like to see more of, no region encoding. The DVD recorder, by the way, was given to me after a friend had no further use of it. I've gotta temporarily log off for a while as my AVG system has to sort itself out, but, in the words of Arnie Schwartzeneger, I'll be back!



henry29 26th Jun 2015		@Neil Forbes. All my players are None Region. I can put anything In and It will Play. Everybody uses Flashsticks here Now and have for awhile. Get a Player that excepts USB flash to the front and just put Your films On the those or Hard drives. Don't You have those shops were You can take a Hard Drive or Flash Drive In a for a Quarter of the price of a Box set they will Load It on to Your drive. If not there's a Business opportunity for you. This Is your version of the Popular one sold here In the Yook. Here It Is region code B. But with a simple Hack on the remote It will become Multiregional. You can try some of the Combinations that work to find the one that is compatible with Yours Usually It Is the first one. H. Here

Neil Forbes 25th Jun 2015		I'd love to have seen this on Aussie TV but I don't think it's ever been screened here. Robert Hardy I'm familiar with having hosted a series of four shows on Castle Ghosts Of England, Scotland, Ireland(likely including Northern Ireland) and Wales as well as his role of Cornelius Fudge in the Harry Potter series up to Order Of The Phoenix. Denholm Elliott has been in a few spooky story movies, but I'm not familiar with Peter Vaughan or Peter Bowles. I love a good ghost story, there are, or were so few of them about until fairly recently.
