Neil Forbes 24th May 2015		The three actors in the "New Tricks" series worked really well together. I'd already mentioned Jim Bolam as Jack Ford and Dennis Waterman as Terry Standing but we should also remember Alun Armstrong as Brian Lane, three brilliantly created characters! Sadly only Dennis Waterman remains from the original cast and he dips out before the final series finishes. But this show retains its quality, even in reruns. Sorry I can't say this of Andy Capp as I have nothing of the series on which to assess it.



Neil Forbes 24th May 2015		Though I've not seen the series(and can't comment on James Bolam's work in it), I do fondly remember Bolam in New Tricks, which started as Old Dogs, New Tricks, but dropped the "Old Dogs" part of the title by the second series. And another veteran in the show, Dennis Waterman, who also sang the theme song which was originally the Traveling Wilburys' "End Of The Line" but copyright problems forced them to change it to a new song called "End Of The Day" which had to be dubbed in over the opening and closing credits of the first series for subsequent repeat screenings. And oh yes, Waterman's Jerry Standing meeting Amanda Redman's character for the first time: "You're her aren't you? Woof, woof, Bang, bang!"
