During its original run, spun-off Melrose Place (which, in turn, spun off Models Inc.). A sequel revival series set in the same continuity, simply titled 90210, aired from 2008 to 2013 and a sequel/revival series of Melrose Place aired during 2009-2010.

Series co-star Tori Spelling was the daughter of series creator Aaron Spelling. Another co-star, Gabrielle Carteris, was in her late 20s when production began on the series, despite her being cast as a 16 year old student.

The series originally focused on the siblings Brandon and Brenda Walsh. By the final season, however, neither character was still featured in the series on an ongoing basis.
