Notes

One of the longest-running children's programs in history, Capt. Kangaroo aired on the national CBS network until 1984; it was the last network show of its kind when it left the air. From 1986 to 1993, a PBS affiliate produced new segments that were incorporated into reruns of the older series, allowing the show to continue for several more years.

The series was notable for featuring a number of segments that became independently popular (or were independent productions to begin with). This included Picture Pages (hosted by Bill Cosby, which was an interactive program involving a workbook purchased by viewers; an Americanized version of the UK series Simon in the Land of Chalk Drawings (with Keeshan replacing original UK narrator Bernard Cribbins), and Slim Goodbody's health and fitness segments.
