Notes

ABC's answer to NBC's Saturday Night Live, except aired live late-night Fridays. Like SNL, many of the actors who were regulars went on to further success in film and TV. A number of its guest stars appeared on both Fridays and SNL at some point, including Billy Crystal who was a regular on SNL for a time.

Notable for a notorious (but staged) incident in which guest star Andy Kaufman supposedly started a brawl during a skit, resulting in an abrupt cut to commercial. For a time it was thought the violence was real but it was later confirmed that, while many involved with the show were not aware it was going to happen, the key production personnel and actors had prearranged the fight.
