Short-lived (never repeated?) "follow-up" to Spaced... :read:

Heh heh... tbh the only bit I can recall is the episode where Hugo ends up besotted with Jill, and he's at some kind of folk session and suddenly blurts out "I can't stop thinking about her arse!".

I do remember the writers being optimistic about it at the time and the Ted connection ensured it got some coverage. I never saw any of the reviews and I can't remember anybody else I knew who actually watched it. It just came and went, obviously not making enough of an impact. It was all rather odd really... maybe had they made it a few years later and put it on BBC 3 it might had got a better reception and audience. It's strange... I'm trying my hardest right now to remember what I can... there was one episode where there was some sort of acid trip... I remember that because Sally Phillips' character was in full "come to bed with me" mode and I remember thinking "Cor... I wish!" lol!

I enjoyed it at the time - I haven't actually watched this DVD though so the last time I saw it was first time round in 1999!

The DVD actually has a couple of inserts as well (mocked up sections of Ray's magazine) which is surprising, as you wouldn't have expected them to spend more than the minimum on releasing it, given that it wasn't all that popular in the first place (though as I say, I actually quite liked it).

I thought this series was really disappointing and as a whole, it didn't work. I watched it all thanks to the Father Ted connection, so figured it would eventually gel and have it's moments but it consistently failed to make me laugh and Sally Phillips looking real cute became the only thing that I enjoyed.

I'm not quite sure what it was that went wrong - too contrived perhaps... would have to watch it again but ain't gonna waste my time doing that! I'm not surprised it lasted just one series and am very surprised to learn it did get released on DVD.
