Based on the novels by novels by Colin Dexter. Inspector Morse and Detective Sergeant Lewis investigate murders. Inspector Morse drove a Regency red 1960 Jaguar Mark 2 2.4L. In 2006 ITV made a spinoff series of Detective Sergeant Lewis titled Lewis and a prequel called Endeavour which shows Morse at the beginning of his police career. There was 6 series with 33 episodes.
Regarding the Regency red 1960 Jaguar Mark II 2.4L, reg. no. 248 RPA that Morse drove, my fathers' first motor vehicle bought in 1966 was a Land-Rover 109" Mk II, long wheel base, diesel, reg. no. 561 RPA. I always thought that dad's "Landy" was a 1959 model.
I highly doubt that a red RHD Jaguar Mk II left the factory with a black vinyl roof covering as a colour scheme,
I note from observing Morses' Mk II Jaguar, it had a membership badge of the A.A. (Automobile Association) attached, whilst fathers' Land-Rover sported an R.A.C. badge (Royal Automobile Club), as he was a member.
He owned four vehicles in his life, all Land-Rovers.
I have seem a fair number of this series, but I am not a fan, other than the series had very good production values, and nearly if not all filmed on location. A handy reference to England as it was late eighties and into the nineties.......
