US-French co-production, animated in Japan.

Produced as a tie-in with a Mattel toy line similar to Transformers, the series is notable for featuring notable SF writers contributing scripts including Barbara Hambly and most notably future Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski. The series had an ongoing story arc, but the storyline was left unresolved after it was cancelled following a single season of 65 episodes. A motion picture was planned as a finale to the storyline, but it was never produced.

In France, the series initially aired as a segment of Salut les p'tits loups! and actually debuted there about a week before it premiered in the US.
