Notes

Juke Box Jury had three runs on BBC TV. The original ran from 1959 to 1967. A revamp hosted by Noel Edmonds ran for one series in 1979 and there were two more series a decade later hosted by Jools Holland.

The show was simple - 4 celebrity guests would be played half of a new record and then be asked to comment on them. They would then vote it a "Hit" or a "Miss" However what made the show fun was each week one or two of the artistes whose records were being played would be hidden from view and wheeled out to face the panel after having their record criticised which led to many embarrassing moments.

The two most famous editions were one in December 1963 where the panel was The Beatles and the following year, the panel was extended to 5 people to accommodate The Rolling Stones. The Seekers made up the panel for a 1967 edition.

Of the original run, just 2 editions are left, curiously from within a month of each other in late 1960 along with a handful of brief fragments used in current affairs type shows. The Beatles edition is regarded as one of the Lost TV Holy Grails... the soundtrack definitely exists as does some 8mm footage shot from the TV screen by a fan but apparently the quality is too poor to be usable in any form.
