Macao featured comedy monologues and music. The studio featured teenagers and 20 somethings (mainly local students) sitting on scaffolding platforms. They would sing short songs, often about or directed at a character who would sit on a revolving stool in the centre of the floor. The song sessions would be divided by comedy monalogues from the main cast, who would sit together in chairs on the studio floor. The main cast would often be playing a character role, e.g. Darla the schoolgirl, the professor, the diva actress, the guy from Napoli, the Bulgarian immigrant, the club raver.
