Spin-off of the 1973-1978 anthology series Police Story which had aired the pilot for this short-lived series as its final episode. The series was promoted under the title David Cassidy - Man Undercover (and some reference works do so too) to capitalize on Cassidy's popularity on the still-recent Partridge Family and as a solo singer.
