Its original 12-year run makes it one of the longest-running series of the mystery genre on US TV. After cancellation Lansbury reprised the role of Jessica Fletcher in four TV movies aired between 1997 and 2003.
In later seasons, Lansbury was not the central focus of a number of episodes, which would instead focus on other detectives with the series almost becoming an anthology. Ultimately, the show only spawned one spin-off series, the short-lived The Law and Harry McGraw.
The series also takes place in the same fictional universe as Magnum, P.I., due to the two series having a crossover storyline. (Magnum, in turn, is set in the same universe as the original Hawaii Five-O.)
In 2013 plans were announced for an in-name-only remake series. Complaints from fans (and Lansbury herself) followed and production ultimately did not proceed.
I'm not entirely convinced that my ex didn't try to poison me once;)she claimed she was soaking the cups in bleach to clean them, and forgot to rinse out properly the one she made a cup of tea in for me,almost burnt the lining of my throat out!.Programmes such as this,as well as C.S.I. etc,i'm sure, put wicked ideas into their heads.Beware!,especially if you suddenly come into some money ;)
