Spin-off series: Family Matters.

The Russian network REN produced a remake of the series starting in 2006. In some countries, such as Brazil where the series aired as "Zeca", Balki's ethnic background was changed. In Brazil, he became Brazilian; in the German-dubbed version, rather than coming from a fictional country, he came from Greece.

In an unusual casting move, Belita Moreno played two different ongoing characters on the series, with her first character, Edwina, being replaced after two seasons by Lydia.
