Spin-off of the crime anthology series Police Story. In the pilot (which aired as part of Police Story), Dickinson's character was named Lisa Beaumont, but was renamed Pepper Anderson for the series (Anderson's real first name is never revealed).

Although not the first such series (other shows such as Decoy and Honey West had predated it), Police Woman was reportedly the first American prime-time drama series with a female lead to be considered a commercial success.

jimbo2021 19th Nov 2024		Completely Random Trivia.. I noticed actor Charles Dierkop played the role of "Pete Royster" in this series. He has been in a lot of stuff, but I immediately knew his name as the uncredited "Horned Mutant" in S1.E13 of LOST IN SPACE, entitled "One of Our Dogs is Missing." As a matter of fact, we just lost Mr. Dierkop this year, back on Sunday, February 25. He was 87.
