A rare occasion of a dramatic series spawning a sitcom (with laugh track), Public Morals is a spin-off of NYPD Blue, by way of the crossover character John Irvin. Although 13 episodes were produced only one was broadcast before the series became one of the few in US TV history to be pulled so quickly. Brochtrup subsequently returned to NYPD Blue.
