TV Series
Notes Began as a stand-alone series, and aired its final two seasons as a segment of The Shazam/Isis Hour. The actor playing Captain Marvel (the lead character) was changed after the first season. The series is credited with inspiring DC Comics, which had held the rights to Captain Marvel since winning a lawsuit against Fawcett Comics in the 1950s over his similarities to Superman, to revive the character, though due to the rise of Marvel Comics and its introduction of its own Captain Marvel, the comic (and series) had to be titled Shazam! after the magic word Billy Batson uses to transform, though it wasn't until the early 2010s that DC officially renamed the character itself "Shazam."
