US-UK co-production.

5-episode adaptation of the unfinished Edith Wharton novel which aired on the BBC in the UK and as part of Masterpiece Theatre in the US. Controversial at the time for taking liberties with the source material. Co-star Mira Sorvino later won the Best Actress Oscar for Mighty Aphrodite, which was released a few month after the series concluded.
