Notes

Spin-off of Arrow, and part of a growing DC Comics-related TV universe that was followed by the animated webseries Vixen and Legends of Tomorrow which is direct spin-off of both Flash and Arrow.

Preceded by the 1990–1991 series The Flash. Although the two exist in separate continuities, the series has had crossover actors, with Amanda Pays guest starring as her 1990–91 character Tina McGee and Mark Hamill reprising the villain The Trickster, which he first played in the original series. Most notably, the actor who played the Flash in 1990, John Wesley Shipp, has a regular role in this series as Barry’s father and Earth 2 Flash.

During the 2015–2016 season the series established a multiverse of alternate Earths, which resulted in The Flash (and its companion series Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow) officially coexisting with both the CBS series Supergirl (with a highly-publicised crossover in 2016 prior to Supergirl moving to the CW) and the 1990 series (as images of Shipps’ version of the character are seen in one episode).
