Future Tonight Show icon Johnny Carson's first solo series, this was a prime time comedy and music half hour, featuring many elements that he'd later use on Tonight. The original series ran 39 weeks but only about 10 episodes survive. After its cancellation, in order to fulfill a contract with CBS, Carson went on to host a second series in 1956 also under this title, but it's considered a separate series from this one.
