TV Series
Notes Anthology series for kids. Each episode consisted of a number of live-action "shows within the show" plus musical segments. Some of the segments featured went on to be circulated as standalone programs, and one segment, The Lost Saucer, was in fact a re-edited rebroadcast of an earlier TV series. The series was hosted by the members of the rock band Kaptain Kool and the Kongs. Followed in 1978 by The Krofft Superstar Hour, a similar series but focusing on the musical group Bay City Rollers; the series was soon renamed The Bay City Rollers Show. It's considered a spin-off, not a continuation, of The Krofft Supershow. The segment Bigfoot and Wildboy was spun-off into a standalone series in 1979 by reissuing the original 15-minute episodes (expanded to fill a half-hour time slot), combined with newly filmed episodes. Electra Woman and Dyna Girl gained a cult following. In 2001 a pilot for a new version of the series was filmed with Markie Post as Electra Woman and Anne Stedman as Dyna Girl. This version was a satire depicting how Electra Woman's life fell apart after her husband ran off with the original Dyna Girl. It never became a series. Another reimagining, this time a comedic version intended as a webseries, was filmed in early 2015 with Grace Helbig and Hannah Hart as the heroes.
