TV Series
Notes Long-running syndicated daytime talk show hosted by the popular singer who was previously best known as the singing voice of Prince Charming in the Disney animated classic Cinderella and for working with Kay Kyser and His Orchestra in the late 40s-early 50s. As such, in lieu of an opening monologue, Douglas often sang a song instead. Instead of a regular co-host, Douglas had special guests co-host a week of shows at a time. Reportedly, the series aired live until an incident when a guest swore at another guest on the air, after which it began to be usually taped in advance. The Mike Douglas Show aired locally in Cleveland until 1963 when it began to air nationally. Its final new episode aired in late 1981 but reruns continued into 1982. The final season aired under the title The Mike Douglas Entertainment Hour. Comments and Reviews
