Updated adaptation of the Gidget franchise, which began with a 1959 movie, followed by an iconic 1965-66 sitcom starring Sally Field and two follow-up TV movies to that series. This retelling with a new cast (and some renamed characters) followed a 1985 TV movie, Gidget's Summer Reunion, and the series proper followed an adult Gidget into married life.
