Notes

Four seasons were produced. The first aired on CBS in 1978-1979 and was cancelled, but found renewed success through reruns on PBS. This led the cable network Showtime to commission a revival, with several returning cast members. Based upon a 1970 novel and preceded by a 1973 film that had also starred Houseman.

During this time on the show, John Houseman became a TV icon as a pitchman for the Smith Barney brokerage firm.
