Live-action Saturday morning series about a group of kids who solve mysteries. In a change of format for US children's programming, the series featured serialized story lines.

Although only 12 episodes were produced, the gang's dog, Boomer, proved popular enough to be given his own TV movie, A Christmas for Boomer, that aired in 1979 and which led to a prime time spin-off series, Here's Boomer, that ran for two seasons. This makes Red Hang Gang one of only a handful of Saturday morning kid's shows to spawn a prime-time series.
