Notes Originally titled Toast of the Town; the series changed its title to The Ed Sullivan Show in September 1955. At 24 seasons, it remains the longest running prime-time variety series in US TV history (Saturday Night Live is considered a late-night program, not prime time). Its most famous broadcast, an appearance by The Beatles, remains one of the most-watched broadcasts of all time.
