Based upon the Robert Heinlein novel Space Cadet. One of the first-ever science fiction series produced for television and it established many of the tropes followed by later captain-and-crew-based sci-fi series, as well as being groundbreaking for the time by featuring a female doctor at a time when women were not widely involved in the profession.

During its run it aired on all four US networks (CBS, NBC, ABC, DuMont).

During 1952 a radio series also aired featuring the TV cast.

Often listed with a comma in the title, the on-screen title didn't have the punctuation.
