Based upon the UK series Keep it in the Family.

Originally aired on ABC from 1980 to 1984, before switching to first-run syndication for the rest its run. The series was retitled The Ted Knight Show in its final season (not to be confused with the 1978 series of the same name) to correspond with a revamping of the format. The new format was successful, but production of the series ended upon Ted Knight's death in 1986. In later syndicated reruns, the Ted Knight Show episodes revert to the original show title.
