This LP describes highlights of the Dodgers' 1959 regular season, including the best-of-three tiebreaker series against the Milwaukee Braves. I guess that they had a deadline to get the record into stores, because they didn't wait to document the World Series results.
A summary of the highlights (all from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum):
Side 1:
- Roy Campanella Night, May 7: an exhibition game vs. the Yankees, who made a special trip to L.A. for the event.
- Giants visiting on June 30: a fly ball from Willie Mays bounced off a foul ball girder, triggering a series of arguments between managers, coaches & umpires.
Side 2:
- Giants visiting on August 31: Koufax strikes out 18
- Pirates visiting on September 11: Scully is calling the home game as well as providing updates from the Phillies-Giants game at Seals Stadium. Fans in the stands are listening to the broadcast on their transistor radios. When he announces that the Phillies have won, the crowd erupts into cheers. Players on the field are looking around wondering what just happened.
- Milwaukee visiting on September 29: Dodgers win 2nd playoff game, clinching the pennant.
