The (EU) label Tamla Motown produced and distributed BMI composer/lyricist Alfred Lloyd Reed, Jr. "pka Al Reed" copyrighted composition "Message From Maria" unauthorized, crediting Combine Music as publisher.

Added labels from early black vinyl pressing with "THE GRAMOPHONE CO LTD" in label rim text rather than the "EMI RECORDS LTD" text of the purple disc.

One of the toughest UK releases to find.

No, 'SON' in this case was Sonic Recording Products of Holbrook, NY. The combo of pressing ring and label fonts gave that away.

Tracks A6 and B1 are nice mid-tempo Soul numbers, in the Motown style.

Was this actually released separately? The discography in Sharon Davis' book MOTOWN: THE HISTORY suggests that this was only released as part of the box set TMSP 1130 in February 1972.

When collecting both US and UK Motown LP's, it's funny how you spot slight differences in some of the titles! Track B5 starts off with 'You' on this UK issue but the US prefer 'You've'.

There's an Australian issue from 1967 with the catalogue Number TMLO 10012, its play list is different.

Track B-5 'Fantasy' is the standout 'regular Motown' type of sound. The rest are MOR or Jazz standards.

Aussie EMI probably didn't bother with this one because they had already issued the US compilation SUPER HITS a year or so before - that one didn't get a UK issue!
